Founder & CEO: Officer Randy A. Myers
My name is Randy Myers and I live in Anderson County, TN. I have been in LE since 1990, working as a Police Chaplain since 1992. I currently serve as Chaplain with the FOP Lodge #77. I attend Crossroads Christ Fellowship in Clinton, Tennessee.
I started the "C.O.P.S." Ministry for police officers because I understand the burdens they face on a daily basis.
In 1992 I was on patrol one night and I was remembering my father teaching how to drive. I remembered he told me, "Son, never drive in the 'fast lane because you never know when a car will come at you.' As I was remembering that very thing, I felt in my heart the Holy Spirit prompting me to get out of the fast lane because there was a car coming in my lane. The problem was it was close to 2:00am and I was the only car on the road.........so I thought.
As I rounded a curve on a four lane highway I got over into the slow lane and I noticed a vehicle traveling towards me but it was in his own lane. As the vehicle approached and got closer to me it jumped a concrete medium and began to come straight for me! I got over even farther up against the guardrail attempting to get away from this vehicle that was not coming head on towards me. As the vehicle got closer and I was over so far that I could not go anywhere else, all I could say is, "Jesus help me!". At that very moment the vehicle made a hard turn away from my vehicle just missing my vehicle by a few feet and jumped the medium again to get back into his lane.
Well, obviously, I turned on my blue lights and I went after this vehicle! I ended up arresting the driver for DUI.
The very next morning I received a phone call at 8:00am and a friend of mine said to me, "I want to know what happened to you last night!" I was going to tell her the story but she interrupted me and told me her what the Holy Spirit told her!
She told me that around 12:30am (shortly after midnight) the Holy Spirit woke her up and told her to, "Go pray for Randy Myers." So she laid in bed and began to pray for me. Only, that wasn't good enough. Again, the Holy Spirit prompted her to, "Go pray for Randy Myers." After about an hour of arguing with the Holy Spirit she said she finally put on some clothes and left her house and went to go find me. Only she couldn't find me!
So, all she could do was traveling the streets of the small town and pray out loud for me and call my name out to God on my behalf!
She said, she finally was able to go home around 2:30am because her burden had lifted! As I said earlier, I was almost hit head on by a DUI driver around 2:00am. I arrested the man at 2:06am and was enroute to the jail at 2:30am!
I am so thankful that this Saint of God was obedient to the prompting of the Holy Spirit and prayed for me at that very hour. I truly believe I would not be here today if she did not obey!!!
And so, thus one reason I started this ministry for LEO's. I want to be able to help police officers and personnel in time of need and to encourage them along the way. I want to allow people to pray for LEO's as they put their life on the line and protect us on the streets.
Will you help us keep this ministry going? Help us by signing up to pray for a LEO today!
You can also help us financially with a donation of any amount. C.O.P.S. is registered through the state and the county as a nonprofit organization so any donation you send to this ministry is tax deductible.
